Clean Our Your Liver
The liver is an often forgotten organ, and yet it does so much for our wellbeing. Your liver filters every ounce of blood in your body. As it does, it’s looking for anything that doesn’t belong: poisonous substances like alcohol and drugs, microplastics, and chemicals used in preserved foods. Once detected, the foreign objects are broken down into waste and eliminated from the body.
For most people, there’s little consideration given for how healthy the liver is…until it becomes a problem, that is. Let’s head that off at the pass and start cleaning out our livers on a regular basis. A great rule of thumb to remember when it comes to choosing a liver cleansing option is – bitter to the mouth, sweet to the liver. There are different regimens, so choose one or two that works for you and your situation.
- Once a month, spend seven days without drinking any alcohol or using any drugs. First thing when you wake up, mix together 2 tablespoons of pure olive oil (cold pressed, extra virgin is ideal), 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, and 1/16th teaspoon (two dashes against the rim of your glass) of cayenne pepper. Mix together, then down it like a shot. It’ll burn, but only for a minute. Cayenne isn’t a chili pepper. It’s an activation pepper, meaning that when it hits the mouth, it activates your immune system. Don’t drink anything for 15-20 minutes. It’ll go straight to your liver and BAM! It gets to work.
- Add into your daily vitamin regimen (if your taste buds can handle it), one full dropper of liquid dandelion extract. It tastes like death, but keeps your liver alive.
- Lemon, Lemon, Lemon. Suck it straight, pour hot water over it and sip, or add it to your tea/water throughout the day. The liver loves lemon and needs it regularly to push the waste out.
If you know you’ve got a night of drinking ahead, mix the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd together throughout the day and then the day after. Wake up and mix the olive oil tonic with the dandelion (it makes the dandelion easier to swallow), then follow 20 minutes later with hot lemon water. The tonic cleans and the hot lemon water rinses.
Give it a whirl! Your liver will thank you.
