3 Tools to Enhance Memory

Did you know that there’s a distinct correlation between your physical flexibility and your neurological flexibility? As we age, we tend to challenge ourselves mentally less frequently than in our formative years. Add to that the slow deterioration of our bodies and the consequences are felt when we try to recall information.

“Where did I put my keys?”

“Wait. We made plans for Saturday night?”

“Was I supposed to pick anything up on my way home?”

If you’re experiencing minor lapses of memory, the sooner you act to intervene, the less likely they are to become major lapses of memory. Here are three things you can do to regenerate the neural connections that keep pour memories strong.

  1. End your shower with some cold water. No joke! This actually works. At the end of your shower, turn the temperature down to the coldest you can handle, then stand there and let the water wash over your body for at least a minute. This literally wakes up every single nerve ending in your body and activates nerve endings that have fallen asleep.
  2. High-Intensity-Interval Training (HIIT). The intense physical labor draws from the deepest recesses of our physical systems to provide the organs and the limbs with the blood, oxygen, and hydration needed to withstand the activity. If you’ve never sprinted uphill for a minute+, you’re in for a treat! Not only does this awaken your neural networks, HIIT increases blood flow through every single centimeter of your body…and you’ll actually feel it!
  3. Fasting. Allow yourself to eat within a set timeframe daily and don’t break your own boundaries. Start by letting your stomach rest for 12 hours every day, then increase the time to 14 hours, then 16 and so on. Eventually, perhaps you’ll even be ready to fast for 24 or 48 hours. When you give your stomach a break from food, not only does it reach deep into energy stores to keep you fueled, it activates regenerative resources throughout the body.

3 tools. Ten minutes or less. Every humpDAY.

I hope these help you help yourself!
